BRISTOL – Enrollment for the Imagine Nation fall preschool program is now open.

Imagine Nation, A Museum Early Learning Center, is a unique division of the Bristol Boys and Girls Club. Though, its early learning school is not just limited to Bristol residents.

Those interested can attend an open house scheduled for Aug. 5, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at the museum, located at 1 Pleasant St. Registration is required for the open house, and can be done by using the Eventbrite link on the Imagine Nation website, at ImagineNation.org.

Doreen Stickney, development director at Imagine Nation, said all those who attend the open house will be registered in a raffle to win a free private educational workshop for a child and up to 20 friends.

At the open house, Stickney said, families will have the opportunity to see the classrooms and the unique learning materials used, as well as tour the facility, which includes the 12 different studios that range in theme from science and nature to art.

“The children on a daily basis use these studios for classwork and for projects,” Stickney said. “They serve as an extension to the classroom.”

Education at the Imagine Nation preschool is done in a unique way, added Sara Castle, director of the early childhood program.

“Our philosophy is based on the Reggio Emilia approach,” Castle said. “We don’t use a lot of commercial materials. The materials used are often found in nature or collected.”

Another thing educators do at Imagine Nation is use broad topic projects.

“We introduce children to a broad topic and then see where the kids take it,” Castle said.

Anyone interested in the Imagine Nation preschool program that cannot make the Aug. 5 open house has been encouraged to email Castle, at sara.castle@imaginenation.org, or call the school directly, at 860-314-1400, to arrange for a free tour of the facility.

Tuition for the preschool program is done on a sliding scale based on a family’s gross income and size.
