SOUTHINGTON – The new LongHorn Steakhouse franchise in Southington will be opening Feb. 23.
The West Street location is right off I-84 Exit 31.
“It’s a new build and they’ve been building for quite some time,” said Rob Phillips, the town’s director of planning. “The pandemic obviously slowed some things down.”
Phillips said they’re still trying to work out some final issues.
“It’s just site plan completion, that’s all,” he said. “There’s a question we have on the safety guard rail on the back side of the building. There’s a retaining wall there so we just have some issues to work out with that.”
LongHorn Steakhouse corporate headquarters confirmed in a statement the Feb. 23 opening date and said the restaurant will be led by Michael Theriault as managing partner and will add more than 60 jobs locally.
LongHorn owns and operates more than 525 locations nationwide, according to the release. Southington is the sixth Connecticut location.
The website states when the LongHorn Steakhouse dining rooms open during the covid-19 pandemic, patrons can expect the staff will get daily temperature checks and protective equipment and practice frequent handwashing, tables will be disinfected after each visit, reconfigured layouts will allow for social distancing and hand sanitizer will be available in the lobby. Patrons will be expected to wear masks, practice social distancing, not congregate in the lobby or bar and use the mobile pay app for non-contact payment where available.
LongHorn offers seven signature steakhouse cuts, as well as fresh chicken and fish, according to the press release.
