Arlene “Bunny” Tonn, joined her husband, Herb, of 68 years, in heaven on May 26, 2021 at the age of 91. She joins her son, Paul, and daughter in law Roxanne. She was born to Fred and Anne Peplau on Jan. 7, 1930. She helped in the Peplau family dairy for many years. After graduating from Bristol High School she went on to Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing to become a registered nurse for over 30 years at Bristol Hospital. The maternity ward was her favorite and longest position. She made many friends during her nursing career, continuing into retirement. As wife to Herb she helped create Tonn’s Orchard, spending many hours raising their three children, on the family farm in Burlington. This included working farmer’s markets and picking many fruits and vegetables. She was delighted to support and watch the family farm legacy continue and grow with the development of Tonn’s Marketplace. She also enjoyed traveling all over the world, quilting, and especially shopping, often with her sister Beverly Collins.

She leaves behind her son Peter Tonn and daughter Linda Beaudoin. Arlene also leaves daughter-in-law Holly Tonn and son-in-law Larry Beaudoin. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Jordan (and wife Aubri), Jill, Matt (and wife Tiffany), Andrew Tonn, Ethan (and wife Mary), and Caleb Beaudoin. Three great children round out the family, Jonah, Savana, and Sienna. Bunny was a long standing member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, serving in many capacities over the years. A celebration of life will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bristol on June 3 at 11 a.m. Memorial donations can be made to Orphan Grain Train c/o Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 8 Maple St., Terryville, CT 06786 whose amazing generosity helped us support her in her last months of life.
