BRISTOL – With the housing market exceptionally busy, Century 21 Bay-Mar Realty, Inc. is expanding its roster to meet the increasing demand.
Scott Bayne, president of Century 21 Bay-Mar Realty at 765 Farmington Ave., said the local franchise has been helping Connecticut residents buy new homes or transition into new homes since 1982. Within the past year, they have also expanded their market to serve clients in Massachusetts.
Bayne attributes Century 21 Bay-Mar realty’s success to his staff’s dedication to clients. He said Century 21 Bay-Mar Realty, Inc. has earned a reputation for having a “broad base of market knowledge” and “a fine attention to the needs and details of any transaction.” Bayne said he wants clients to be well-informed throughout the process of buying, selling or renting residential and commercial properties.
“We pay a lot of attention to properly structuring buyers’ and sellers’ financial packages to put them in the best position to accomplish their goal,” he said. “Whether it takes, months or years, we stay with them through the entire process. We also work with clients to correct any issues in their financial package. If they had a credit score that was a little lower than what was required for a mortgage, we set up a credit review session and show them how to increase their score, make improvements and become eligible. People often tell us they’re grateful for the extra time we put in to help them reach this huge milestone.”
At the start of the pandemic, Bayne said the market initially experienced a slowdown as there was a lot of financial instability and uncertainty. However, after about two or three months, people adjusted and the market picked back up.
“We were able to sustain our production levels and keep our staff throughout this period,” he said. “We had to take some precautions and the way that we showed properties changed. We limited the number of people going in and out of people’s homes and wore masks and gloves. We adapted to the rules and regulations to keep both property owners and prospective buyers safe.”
Now, as the market emerges from the pandemic, Bayne said it has become “exceptionally busy.”
“We’re seeing that all price ranges have become very active, from starter homes to multi-family homes, to high-end luxury homes,” he said. “It’s something that we hadn’t seen before in the market and we take it as a great sign that the market is healthy and has recovered. I think people were waiting to see how the financial market and their employment would be impacted before making the transition into a new home. Now, all of that pent-up demand is hitting the market at once. There are also a lot of people from New York and Massachusetts relocating to Connecticut. Our market is a little more affordable and interest rates are at an all-time low. It appears that we will have sustained activity into the near future.”
Bayne said Century 21 Bay-Mar Realty has brought in new agents to help meet the increased demands of the housing market. He is currently hiring as well.
“We're looking for someone that is self-motivated,” he said. “We train everybody that comes in, but we want them to have a desire to put the effort in to achieve success within our industry.”
