Dear Bristol Community:
June starts the hurricane season. Now is the time to prepare for this season with due diligence in our community. Many of us take for granted that the city of Bristol will always be there for us in times of emergency and disaster. While our first responders do an excellent job of providing these services, we need to look within to be able to help ourselves and others in the community to be prepared for a major hurricane. While we are responsible for protecting ourselves and our families, we need to see what we can do to enhance the lives of our fellow citizens and neighbors. Learn the basics of emergency preparedness; what to have on hand and what to do for your family. Learn to build a kit. Make a commitment for this season to be prepared for the eventuality of a major storm. Find out what you can do, what you need and where to get the information.
You can also join a group whose motto is “neighbors helping neighbors”. The Bristol CERT is an active group of volunteers proud to do just that, being there for our neighbors and our community in times of need, doing the right thing at the right time for the right reason. We are trained and ready to assist our first responders and fellow Bristolites and anyone else in need during natural and man-made disasters that may strike our community. We are always looking for new members with the same ideals and purposes.
If you are interested in attending a meeting, see what we do and what we can do for Bristol, join us to meet your fellow citizens with the same goals. Check out the Bristol CERT Facebook page; look at our Website at BristolCERT.com for further information as to what our mission is, what events we participate in for the city and how we train for any eventual disaster that may strike our city.
We are looking forward to seeing you at our next meeting or you may contact me directly at email@example.com.
