A note from Tim Gamache:
“I would like the opportunity to thank the many volunteers who assisted the Bristol Veterans Council throughout May and June.
“First, all the folks who assisted with changing over flags of veterans’ gravesites: the Korean War Association (along with many volunteers) who worked both St. Joseph’s and Peacedale cemeteries; the KIM (Kids in the Middle program) at West Cemetery; Boy Scout Troop 9 at St. Thomas; Cub Scout Pack 432 at Forestville Cemetery. In all some 6,500 flags were replaced. A Herculean task impossible without their assistance.
“Second, kudos to Nutmeg TV for once again doing a professional job with airing our virtual Memorial Day ceremony.
“Third, thanks to all who helped our annual Salute Dinner be a success; Veterans Strong Community Center; Cravings (caterer); Jayson Beaulieu (Anthem); parents and friends who attended to support our young people who have chosen to enter our Armed Forces.
“Finally, kudos to Christine Hoffman, cookie manager for the Bristol/Forestville Girls Scouts who donated 24 dozen cookies to American Legion Post 2 who they chose as their ‘Cookies for Heroes’ program. It should also be said that ALL of our elected officials both participated and supported the endeavors of the veterans community throughout the holiday season.
“It is obvious the tremendous support the veterans community received from Bristol. THANK YOU and God Bless you all.”
