Bristol legion kicks off season

BRISTOL - Bristol 19U American Legion picked up a win Saturday, improving to 1-0 on the season with a 1-0 win over Wallingford.

A run in the bottom of the seventh was the decider for Bristol. Jack Kozikowski’s infield single with the bases loaded drove in Austin Brown to end it.

Roberto Negron Cruz went the distance, allowing two hits. He threw 87 pitches for the complete game shutout.

Bristol’s junior program was blanked 10-0 Sunday by West Hartford’s junior team.

In seven innings, Berlin JR tallied five hits. Michael Allan pitched three innings and was given the losing decision.

Bristol’s JR team also lost 6-1 Sunday to West Hartford JR. Jaydon Churchill went 5 1/3 innings, and was given the losing decision.
