PLAINVILLE -- Police are looking for two suspects in an attempted robbery Tuesday evening.

According to police, the suspects entered the Cumberland Farms, at 64 Broad St., went behind the counter and confronted the clerk.

Police said one of the suspects opened a cabinet door and attempted to steal cigarette cartons. The clerk and the suspect got into a shoving match after the clerk stood in front of the woman. The second suspect then got in between the two of them in an apparent attempt to protect the first suspect, police said.

The clerk tried calling 911, but one of the suspects ripped the phone away and threw it across the store, according to police. The suspects then fled and got into a blue sedan. They were unable to steal anything from the store, police said.

The first suspect has been described as a Hispanic female, standing about 5 foot, 5 inches tall, weighing over 200 pounds. She was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, sandals, and a disposable blue and white surgical mask.

The second suspect has been described as a Hispanic female, standing about 5 foot, 6 inches tall, weighing between 110 and 120 pounds. She was wearing a black T-shirt, black pants and a black hospital mask, police said.
