Policarpio has two goals, two assists as Bristol Eastern girls soccer defeats visiting Plainville

BRISTOL - Leah Policarpio had two goals and two assists as the Bristol Eastern girls soccer team picked up a 6-2 victory over visiting Plainville on Thursday evening.

Plainville’s Nayelle Heredia opened the scoring in the 18th minute off a beautiful cross from Delaney Beausoleil. Policarpio tied it in the 30th minute when she beat a defender and snuck a shot off the keeper and into the net on the near post.

The teams went into halftime tied 1-1, but the Lancers got a scoring flurry midway through the second half.

In the 64th minute, Ciara Collins headed in a goal off a beautiful corner kick from Policarpio, then a minute later Policarpio took a sensational pass from the back from Audra Porowski and blasted in a shot near post. In the 67th minute, Sara Stadnicki took a cross from Collins and blasted it in the goal for a 4-1 Bristol Eastern lead.

Tea Autunno scored for Plainville in the 68th minute to cut the lead to two goals, but the Lancers weren’t done.

Annabella Lusitani finished off a loose ball in the box to make it 5-2 in the 74th minute, then Emily Nelson got her first career goal off a Policarpio assist in the 76th minute to cap the scoring.

Bristol Eastern goalkeeper Maura Cyr and Plainville’s Amber St. Onge each made six saves in the contest.
