Fans attending UConn athletic events, including the school’s men’s and women’s basketball games, will have to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the game to gain entry, the school announced Thursday.
The rule will go into effect beginning with the women’s basketball team’s game against Xavier Jan. 15.
The restrictions apply to all individuals aged 12 and over.
The school is encouraging fans to arrive early in order to expedite what could be a lengthy entry process.
Fans can show vaccination proof - which the school is defining as those two weeks from their second dose of Pfizer or Moderna shots, or two weeks from a Johnson & Johnson shot - in physical or digital form.
Unvaccinated fans will be allowed to present a PCR or rapid antigen test, but an at-home test will not suffice.
Fans will also have to provide a form of identification that matches the vaccination record.
The school is asking any fans experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 to not attend games. In addition, all patrons over age 2 will still be required to wear a face covering.
