UConn women's basketball suspends team activities after positive covid test

The UConn women’s basketball team has suspended team activities on Tuesday evening after a member of the program tested positive for covid-19, the school announced on Tuesday.

“The UConn women's basketball program has temporarily suspended team activities after a member of the program tested positive for COVID-19,” Tuesday’s announcement read. “Per university protocol, team activities will remain on hold for at least 14 days and will resume when it is deemed safe by medical professionals.”

The Huskies were scheduled to begin the season on Saturday with an afternoon game against Quinnipiac, which has now been canceled. A game scheduled for the following day against either Maine or Mississippi has also been canceled. A Dec. 4 game against Louisville has been canceled as well, while a Dec. 6 game against Seton Hall has been postponed. The university said any scheduling updates will be announced at a later date.

The earliest UConn can now begin the season is Dec. 15 at home against Butler.
