Roundup: St. Paul girls basketball falls to Wolcott in opening game of NVL tournament

BRISTOL - The St. Paul girls basketball team couldn’t slow down No. 7 Wolcott’s Raven Cody as she scored 32 points and the Eagles downed the Falcons in the first round of the NVL tournament 48-39.

For St. Paul Jade Udoh and Lyndsey O’Bright led the way. Udoh had nine points and O’Bright finished with eight.

Wolcott had consistent play throughout the four quarters, scoring in double digits in each.

The Falcons will look to right the ship in the state tournament.

WRESTLING:

In Class S Terryville’s Cayleb Leclerc placed fourth in the tournament. He lost to Windham’s Kevin Fantoli by a 6-4 decision. As a team the Kangaroos finished in 21st place with 29 team points.

St. Paul finished in 33rd place with just five team points and had no place finishers.
