TERRYVILLE - It was a battle of two teams seeking their first victory of the season, as the Terryville girls basketball squad hosted Wilby on Wednesday night.

Kangaroos senior McKenzie Huria made sure her team escaped with its first win of the season, as she scored 22 points in the game en route to a 42-31 victory for Terryville.

On defense, the Kangaroos stymied the Wildcats’ offense in the first half, allowing just six points.

Sophomore Amy Roqi added seven points for the Kangaroos in the game.

Hailey Marin, Alivia Cote, Tiffany Pires and Lauren Jacobs also had points.

For the Kangaroos, it’s a big game finally getting in the win column.

Terryville will be back on the road Friday as it travels to take on Nonnewaug at 7 p.m.
