Sports Roundup: St. Paul girls basketball gets win over previously-unbeaten Sacred Heart

The St. Paul girls basketball team picked up a big victory at home on Thursday night, taking down previously-unbeaten Sacred Heart, 45-40.

The Falcons flew to a 14-4 lead after the first quarter, but that was all but gone at halftime as the Hearts closed the gap to 22-21. It was back-and-forth after that, with Sacred Heart taking a one-point lead (31-30) into the final quarter, but St. Paul battling back for the win.

St. Paul (4-0) was led by Janessa Gonzalez (24 points, 10 rebounds), Morgan Kolb (6 points), Aidrianna Lopez (5 points), Taylor Crawford (4 points) and Jade Udoh (4 points, 8 rebounds, 4 blocks).

Sacred Heart (3-1) was led by 12 points each from Aamaya Rivera and Mikayla Mobley.

Wamogo 31, Terryville 21: After another sluggish offensive night, the Kangaroos fell to 0-3 for the season with a loss on the road.

Terryville was led offensively by McKenzie Huria (12 points) and Amy Roqi (7), while Lauren Jacobs had 12 rebounds and four blocks.

Wamogo (3-1) was led by Rose Kelly’s 11 points and 10 rebounds.
