ROUNDUP: Bristol Eastern girls volleyball gets back on track, sweeps Rocky Hill

ROCKY HILL - After an up-and-down start to the season, the Bristol Eastern girls volleyball team was looking to get back on track Monday.

It managed to do just that against Rocky Hill. The Lancers swept the Terriers 3-0 (25-7, 25-11 and 25-18) to snap a two-game losing skid.

Bristol Eastern got plenty of strong performances with Rebecca Bender recording 12 service points, Alex Dimattia tallying 11 service points, Zoe Lowe finishing with eight kills 8 kills and Aliana Rivoira ending with 13 service points and five aces.

Bristol Central, 3, Bulkeley 0: Bristol Central played up and had players in new positions who stepped up in the match. Overall, Bristol Central head coach Holly Willette was pleased with the team’s effort. The Rams won three consecutive sets in the victory.


St. Paul 0, Sacred Heart 0: It was a physical game from start to finish, with neither team able to get the upper hand. The Falcons outshot the Hearts 17-11, but lost Kendall Davis in the second half that hurt the offense. Nina Zwolinski had another strong showing in net for St. Paul with 11 saves, while Catharine Ciampi and Hannah Stanford stood out on defense and Bella Griffin, Briana Senese and Addison Davis controlled the midfield.

Northwestern 2, Terryville 0: It was tough day on the offensive end for the Kangaroos, who managed just two shots to Northwestern’s 15. Addie Hester and Hannah Reola each scored for Northwestern, while Maria Cesare saved 13 of 15 shots for Terryville. The Kangaroos dropped to 1-3 on the season with the loss.
