BRISTOL - For the first time this season, the Bristol Eastern baseball team is above .500. The Lancers rode a seven-run sixth inning to a 7-3 win over Plainville for their third victory of the season.

Ten Bristol Eastern batters got on base in the bottom of the sixth, leading to the seven runs. The three Plainville pitchers that appeared in the sixth combined to give up three hits and six walks and throwing two wild pitches. Jake Violette and Gary Gagnier each had RBI singles, while MacGregor Goulet hit a sacrifice fly. Gagnier had three of Bristol Eastern’s five hits.

On the mound, Ethan O’Day went 6 1/3 innings for the Lancers, shutting out the Blue Devils through the first six. Entering the seventh inning, O’Day had only surrendered four hits and no walks, while striking out six. In the seventh, O’Day gave up a lead-off double, a walk, a hit batsmen and a wild pitch before getting a strikeout for the first out.

The wild pitch plated Plainville’s first run and after another walk, O’Day was lifted and Cory Fradette finished the game, giving up another two runs before the last two outs.

Terryville 8, Shepaug 1: Derek Thibodeau pitched a complete game for the Kangaroos, striking out four and giving up just one hit in the win over the Spartans.

Shawn Fulton hit two singles and a double, plus a RBI. Ethan Rheault and Matt Jobaggy each had a double and two RBI.

St. Paul 8, Seymour 4: It took nine innings but the Falcons finally prevailed over the Wildcats with four runs in the top of the ninth.

Wes Lahey got the win for St. Paul, pitching the final 3 1/3 innings, allowing just one earned run and three hits and striking out three. Lahey relieved starter Jack Bator in the sixth inning. Bator kept Seymour to one hit through the first three innings.

In the top of the ninth, Julian Thayer led off with a triple and subsequently scored on Nick Morrell’s double. Morrell was then driven in by a single from Ryan Greene and Ethan Rembish capped off the inning with a two-RBI single, the first hit of his varsity career.
