PLYMOUTH – Police are investigating two armed robberies that occurred over the weekend, within minutes of one another.

Plymouth officers said they believe the same suspect was responsible for both hold-ups. The man was armed with a knife, police said.

The incidents were reported Saturday at the Gulf gas station, at 120 Main St., and the Citgo gas station, at 110 Main St., at 6:32 p.m. and 6:34 p.m., respectively.

Police said the suspect made off with several thousand dollars from the stores. Investigators believe he used a dark sedan, possibly a Chevy Malibu, which was parked behind the Dollar General Store across the street. A motorist driving the dark sedan was seen quickly driving away onto Main Street minutes after the robbery, heading toward Bristol.

No injuries were reported.

Police said the suspect believed to be behind the robberies has been described as a Black male with a deep voice, standing 5 foot, 7 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds. He was wearing a black and blue jacket, a white New York Giants cap with a flat brim and a surgical face covering.

Police have released still images of the suspect, which appear to have been taken from video surveillance in the area of the robberies.
