PLYMOUTH – Town and Chamber officials welcomed L.A.B. Fitness & Wellness to Container Drive.

The new fitness and training center celebrated its Grand Opening on Saturday, Nov. 7.

"Today was a great day and I can't wait for L.A.B. Fitness and Wellness to be a huge success," said owner and head coach Breigh Ashe on the day of the opening.

Ashe, who is an ACE (American Council on Exercise) Certified Trainer, has been coaching for almost two years while working toward a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science. Her business partner and sister Crystal Ashe is also coach as well as massage therapist and has been a NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) certified trainer for 20 years.

L.A.B. Fitness & Wellness offers circuit training in functional fitness, personal one on one training, small group training massage therapy. For circuit training, L.A.B. Fitness & Wellness offers body weights, free weights, resistance bands and minimal equipment. Crystal Ashe also has a massage room set up at the facility.

"There are no elliptical machines, no treadmills and no stationary bikes; we are not like the big commercial gym," said Breigh Ashe.

Breigh Ashe said that she and Crystal Ashe started L.A.B. because they "have a passion for helping people set, meet and crush their goals."

Breigh Ashe said she found her passion for helping others when she first joined a gym in another town that taught her how to "use her body as a machine."

"I felt empowered when I realized that my body could do amazing things,” she said.

Ashe became an intern at this facility, which she said closed in Dec. 2019. It was then that she decided she needed a "home" for some of the people that she had come to know and coach there.

"Through a lot of blood, sweat and many, many tears we opened L.A.B. Fitness and Wellness and started to gain a few clients here and there," she said. "Then, the pandemic hit and slowed things down. But, that didn't stop us. We kept renovating the space and kept on training one on one clients through it all."

Ashe said she "loves helping people become healthier versions of themselves" and loves "helping them turn their mindsets into positive thinking and always growing."

Crystal Ashe, who Breigh Ashe calls her "right hand woman", was "happy to take on the role" when her sister needed a coach to help out.

"Together we want to help people grow stronger, happier and healthier," said Breigh Ashe. "We want them to feel empowered. We want to continue to grow not only as individuals but also as a business."

Going forward, the sisters say that they want to add different types of classes and workshops to their schedule to expand their offerings.

Mayor David Merchant congratulated Breigh and Crystal Ashe for opening a new business in town and welcomed them to the community.

“Breigh has done a great job fitting her business into this building,” said Merchant. “If you have a chance, stop by and visit Breigh and see what she can do for you.”
