PLYMOUTH – Popular Plymouth restaurant Chute Gates is on the market.
Showcase Realty, Inc. lists the property at 372 Main St., which was opened in 1997, for sale with an asking price of $599,900.
John Donato Jr., broker and owner of Showcase Realty, said he has already had “a lot of interest” in the property from local business and restaurant owners.
“We’ve also seen a ton of social media activity,” he said. “A lot of people posted saying that they had good memories coming to Chute Gates. A lot of people were saying that they frequented it many times over the years. It’s an amazing property; I love it. If we can find someone who wants to keep the country and western legacy and take over that would be great. Kevin [Wojtczak] has kept up the building very well and built up a loyal clientele over the years. It has great highway access and parking and it’s along a main road. It’s definitely a great opportunity.”
Although Chute Gates’ property has been listed as available for sale, proprietor Kevin Wojtczak said the long-standing restaurant and saloon remains open.
“We plan to remain open and under our usual business hours,” Wojtczak said. “We are looking forward to seeing all our loyal and new customers.”
Chute Gates has been a popular eatery in town for many years, serving up its popular country fried steak, burgers, barbecue pulled pork and other southern-style dishes.
The restaurant has been recognized for its success in town by Mayor David Merchant, Fire Chief Mark Sekorski and local legislators, who presented them with an award for their 20th anniversary in 2017.
Chute Gates has continued to remain open throughout the coronavirus pandemic this year and continues to offer takeout service. The restaurant is currently open but limited to half capacity.
“Covid has been tough,” Wojtczak said. “We were going to have an Eagles tribute band this year, but we can’t have them while we’re at half capacity. It has been a struggle.”
Wojtczak offered a “sincere thank you” to Chute Gates’ loyal customers who have supported them throughout the years. He also invites those who have yet to visit them to stop in.
“Come check out our one of a kind western atmosphere and enjoy some country music and great southern cooking,” he said.
