BRISTOL - A 44-year-old Terryville man has been accused of propositioning a 14-year-old Bristol girl, sending her a list of sexual favors she could complete for money.

Shane Silva was charged this week with criminal attempt to employ a minor in an obscene performance and risk of injury to a minor.

According to the arrest warrant, Silva last winter sent the teen a list of things she could do to earn $100 each, including sending him nude photos, performing oral sex on him, allowing him to perform oral sex on her and going anywhere he wanted with him during her next school vacation. The document said no sexual contact is alleged to have taken place.

According to the warrant, Silva knows the victim’s mother and has been acting as a father figure to the teen. The girl went with Silva on two business trips of his last fall and winter. During the first one, the warrant said, he referred to her as his girlfriend and made a comment about a pair of spandex-style pants she was looking to purchase.

During the second trip, the warrant continued, the girl said she fell asleep in the car and woke up to Silva holding her hand. When she pulled her hand away, she alleges, he asked if they would hug and kiss. After dropping the girl off at home, she told police, Silva twice tried to kiss her on the lips, but she moved away.

Following the trip, police said, Silva allegedly gave the girl between $100-200 and told her that other girls have given him nude photos for financial support. According to the warrant, he told the teen she did not need to send him photos, but that, if she did, he would not mind.

During either December or January, the warrant said, the 14-year-old asked Silva for money. This is when he allegedly sent her a list of sexual favors via text message and told her each task would earn her $100. The girl later showed this list to police, after her therapist in February contacted the state’s Department of Children and Families when the teen brought it up during a counseling session. DCF then contacted local police.

Officers seized Silva’s phone and other electronic devices from his home in May, after a detective in March twice tried to line up an interview with him, but he didn’t show up either time, the warrant said. While police were at his home, he agreed to speak with investigators.

During the interview, Silva admitted that he tried to kiss the teen on the lips after one of their road trips together, the warrant said. He also said the girl asked him for money in January and that he sent her $400 using PayPal, but she said the transaction didn’t go through. After sending another $400, Silva realized that both transactions had gone through and he asked for half of the money back. He told police the teen refused and claimed she had already spent it.

Additionally, Silva said the girl in January offered to sell him her virginity for $2,000, but he declined, according to the warrant. She also, he alleges, offered to sell him nude photos of herself for $20 each, but he told her that was too expensive. Silva said she sent him a nude photo and then sent several more upon his request.

Silva admitted to police he has said inappropriate things to the teen and sent her the list of sexual favors that she showed officers, but he affirmed that he never intended to go through with any of the acts. He also told officers he believes the girl manipulated him for money.

Silva is free on $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Bristol Superior Court on Monday.
