PLYMOUTH - A Bristol man had to be rescued from a wooded area in town after breaking his leg on a dirt bike Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters and multiple ambulance crews responded shortly before 12:30 p.m. to the woods off of Townline Road. The middle-aged man, who was not immediately identified, was taken to an area hospital for treatment for a broken left leg.

One paramedic could be heard describing the injury as a “shatter.”

According to the fire department, the victim and another person were driving dirt bikes in a wooded area that has multiple trails, which were very muddy because of recent rainfall. The second man ran for help after his friend had an accident in the woods. He was immobilized because of the broken leg.

The victim was placed on a backboard before he was loaded onto a utility task vehicle and driven out of the woods to an area behind Thrive Church. There, he was taken aboard an ambulance to an area hospital.
