WASHINGTON- Commerce Packaging Corp. was named ‘Murphy’s Monday Manufacturer’ by U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy.

Commerce Packaging was recognized for its continued leadership in defense manufacturing and global expansion.

“For decades this family-owned business has been a leader in Connecticut’s manufacturing community and a help to some of our leading defense manufacturers. I’m happy to highlight Commerce Packaging for their service to our state and dedication to Connecticut workers,” said Murphy.

Commerce Packaging Corp. is a third-generation family owned company founded in 1954.

The 25-employee company specializes in the manufacturing of corrugated boxes, wood crates and foam inserts for military-specific and commercial packaging.

In its growing 70,000-square-foot facility in Norwalk, the company now creates packaging for customers around the world like Sikorsky, Breitling, Ward Leonard, XPO Logistics, Kitchen Brains and Sisley.

“The state of Connecticut has a long history in manufacturing, especially related to the defense industry. We are proud to hire Connecticut employees and utilize local resources to supply the growing demand of our existing and future customers throughout the country,” said Jeffrey Alexander, vice president of Commerce Packaging Corp.

Commerce Packaging is also in the process of expanding its business to offer its skill base and expertise to companies across the U.S.

Commerce Packaging recently won its largest prime contract with the federal government to deliver generators over the next few years.

Commerce Packaging is a member of the Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) and the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce.
