BRISTOL - The Bristol Farmer’s Market will return to “The Patch” June 24 through Oct. 28, giving visitors the opportunity to purchase locally grown food and products.

The market will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 100 N. Main St. on the large area of grass at Centre Square which has been designated “The Patch” for the purposes of hosting town events. It will feature a variety of summer-grown crops as well as natural-made products and, during the fall, will also feature pumpkins.

This year, some of the participating farms will include Twin Pines, Gresczyk Farms, Wild Johnson’s. Some of the vendors will include Better Baking by Beth, Ridge Runner Soaps, The Hospital of Central Connecticut Cancer Institute and Midstate Medical. Local country singer Jason Gerrish will perform regularly at the Bristol Farmer’s Market along with other musicians who will rotate appearances.

Ani Chaghatzbanian, economic development specialist, said that people are getting excited as the opening draws near. There has been a lot of chatter about it, she said, on social media.

“It’s a way to draw people to a central location downtown with lots of parking,” she said. “It also helps to create a sense of community with a community event. It is a good opportunity to get out and see what there is to offer as far as produce and goods in the community and to support the local economy. Visitors will be able to buy produce in bulk at reasonable prices.”

The Bristol Farmer’s Market moved to The Patch in 2016, before which it was held for many years at Bristol Commons.

Seniors can pick up coupons as part of the Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program at the Bristol Senior Center at 240 Stafford Ave. WIC will be accepted but EBT will not.
