Berlin's Dunn wins girls State Open golf title

OLD LYME - Libby Dunn of Berlin took home the CIAC State Open girls golf title, shooting the match low for the medal at Black Hall Golf Club in Old Lyme Saturday.

Dunn scored an 81 to win the open meet. Teammate Kenna Roman also scored, shooting an 87.

St. Paul’s Erin Downes shot a 94 and Southington’s Brooke Zajac shot a 91.

Dunn shot a 12 for an 84 in the Div. II tournament on June 7, trailing only Mia Dang of Woodstock. Dang shot a 90 Saturday, trailing Dunn.

Boys Open

On the boys side of the State Open for the boys, St. Paul’s Matt Downes finished the day tied for 19th in the field with a score of 78, which was seven over par.

Berlin’s Jacob Lindsay finished the day tied for 26th, shooting a +10 (81). Winning the match was Brett Chodos of Amity.
