Roundup: Terryville baseball falls short of semifinals berth in 8-inning walk-off loss

The Terryville baseball team came close to an upset of Class S top seed Holy Cross, but the Kangaroos’ state tournament run came to an end in a 6-5 loss in eight innings Saturday.

The No. 24 seed Kangaroos (11-12) scored four runs in the second inning and took a 5-4 lead in the top of the fifth, but the No. 1-seeded Crusaders (21-2) advanced to the semifinals on Will Green’s walk-off RBI single in the eighth.

Terryville ace Albert Molina took the loss, throwing seven-plus innings and allowing six runs (four earned) on 10 hits with three walks. Colin Bamrick and Zack Rinkavage (two RBI, two runs) each produced two hits for the ‘Roos.


Holy Cross 13, St Paul 8: The sixth-seeded Falcons (18-5) fell to the third-seeded Crusaders (20-3) for the third straight year in the Class S state tournament, falling a step short of a semifinals berth.
