Area boys lacrosse teams find out state tournament matchups

The CIAC released the brackets for the boys lacrosse state tournaments Thursday, and the three local teams that qualified learned their respective seedings and who they will be taking on in the first round.

In Class S, St. Paul, earned the No. 1 overall seed with its 15-1 regular season record.

The Falcons will play the winner of Saturday’s qualifying round, which will either be 16th-seeded Montville (7-9) or 17th-seeded Tolland (6-8).

St. Paul will host its playoff opener Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Over in Class M, is Berlin.

With a record of 13-3, the Redcoats earned the No. 4 seed. Berlin will play the winner of Saturday’s qualifying-round matchup between either 13th-seeded East Lyme (9-7) or 20th-seeded Foran (8-8).

Berlin will host on Wednesday for the first round of the tournament at 4:30 p.m.

As for Class L, Newington finished its season 10-6, earning the 14th seed. The Indians will host No. 19 New Milford (8-8) on Saturday at 11 a.m. for the qualifying round.

Should Newington advance, it will play No. 3 Hall (12-3) on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Southington, Bristol Central and Bristol Eastern are the three area teams that did not qualified for a state tournament this season.

The Blue Knights finished the season with a 6-10 record, one win short of qualifying in Class L. The Rams went 0-16 and the Lancers finished 2-11, with each missing the Class M tournament.
