BERLIN - The Bristol Eastern boys basketball team improved to 2-0 with a 53-49 victory over Berlin on the road Tuesday night.

The Redcoats and Lancers traded baskets the first half, going to the locker room tied at 25.

Carter Dziedzic (19 points) and Mac Goulet (15) paced the offense, getting to the rim against Berlin’s extended pressure.

In the second half, the Lancers took a 15-6 advantage in the third quarter when Nate Silva heated up, making three 3-pointers in the quarter to push the lead.

After an injury sent Dziedzic out for the game, the Lancers held on, making 13 free throws down the stretch to seal the contest, withstanding a barrage of 3-pointers from the Redcoats with two minutes in the game.

Cam Tate played a strong game with six points, five assists and five rebounds.

Tyler Mason, Rajon Collins and Jake Lafferty all played well, earning praise from their coach for gathering loose balls and defending well.

“We needed everyone to step up and play well when Carter went down. I was pleased how we handled pressure and made great decisions down the stretch as a team,” coach Bunty Ray said.

The Lancers host Platt on Friday night, looking to keep their momentum going.

Lewis Mills 52, Terryville 25: The Kangaroos were unable to generate any offense early, trailing 34-8 after three quarters on Tuesday night at home.
