BRISTOL - Bristol Eastern’s dominance over Bristol Central in girls volleyball continues.

The Lancers swept the Rams in straight sets Monday night 25-16, 25-10 and 25-19 to start the city series.

Bristol Eastern has owned the one-sided rivalry over the last 20 years, meaning Bristol Central will have to wait until the end of the season (Oct. 26) until its next chance to try and break the streak.

For the Lancers, the match started with the serving and worked its way forward, leading to plenty of top performances.

Aliana Rivoira had 32 assists and three aces for Bristol Eastern, while teammates Sienna White (13 kills), Zoe Lowe (seven kills), Amber Blais (five kills) and Gabby Nozzolillo (six kills) all played well.

“I was happy with the way our played,” Lancers head coach Stacy Rivoira said. “Our serving was much better. This is a confidence booster for us.”

Xia’ian Carrasco and Kathryn Ross led the way for the Rams with seven blocks apiece.

Eastern is now 5-4, while the Central is 6-4.

St. Paul 3, Waterbury Career Academy 0: The Falcons were in control of the game from start to finish, winning by set scores of 25-17, 25-10 and 25-10.

St. Paul’s strong game was a group effort with every player playing throughout all three sets.

Julianna Iacovelli and Lindsey O’Bright led the way for the Falcons. Iacovelli had five kills and four blocks, while O’Bright finished with two aces and five assists.

Megan Romaniello had five aces and four kills for WCA with Wilmarie Ramos finishing with two aces and two assists.

St. Paul is now 4-6.

BOYS SOCCER

Oxford 7, St. Paul 0: It was more than a rough afternoon for the Falcons. Oxford took a 2-0 lead into the half and continued to score five goals after.

Justin Berger netted three, while Spencer Kerwin scored twice. Joe Curtis and Ryan Mullar added a goal apiece for Oxford as well.
