BRISTOL - The Terryville boys cross country team is off to an undefeated start this season.
With the strong performances over Housatonic and Litchfield on Tuesday, the Kangaroos improved to 4-0.
Terryville beat Housatonic 15-50 and Litchfield 17-42.
The Kangaroos had four of the top five finishers in the race with Corey Picard, Chris Deforest, Colby Brown and Conor Garrity leading the way.
Picard (17:54) and Deforest (17:58) were the first to cross the finish line.
Following those two were Brown (18:43) and Garrity (19:39).
Out of the top 10 runners, the Kangaroos had seven representatives as Travis Bellmare (21:14), Nick Zappone (21:30) and Justin Ethier (21:47) rounded out the rest.
Windsor 95, Bristol Eastern 88: Bristol Eastern had a chance to win and it came down to the last event, the 400 freestyle relay. The Lancers couldn’t pull it off and fell just short of their second win on the season.
Hope Johnsky had a strong meet, dropping 10 seconds in the 500 freestyle and an impressive 50 freestyle. Maura McCormick and Julia Michaud were also impressive. Emily Mulcunry finished first in diving and Bristol Eastern had the top three divers in the meet.
The Lancers drop to 1-3 on the season and will take on East Hartford on Friday back at the Dennis Malone Aquatics Center.
Bristol Central 91, Enfield 83: Bristol Central’s strong season continued as Camille Attle finished first in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Ailey Driscoll was first in the 50 freestyle and the 500 freestyle. Sydney Pina was first in the 100 backstroke and Mackenzie Pina won the 100 breaststroke. The Rams took first in all three of the relays.
Bristol Central’s next meet is Tuesday against Maloney/Platt in Meriden.
St. Paul 85, Wilby 54: St. Paul had a dominant performance against Wilby. Emily Haase and Molly MacCallister led the way with Haase taking first place in the 200 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke and MacCallister finishing first in the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke.
Lyndsey Stanwicks finished third in the 500 freestyle with her personal best time. The Falcons won all three relays and move to 2-2 with the win.
St. Paul’s next meet will be on Friday with a chance to get past the .500 mark.
St. Paul 3, Ansonia 2: St. Paul won with scores of 25-23, 18-25, 25-23, 20-25 and 15-7.
For the Falcons, Oliva Genovese had seven kills and five aces. Alexis Carabetta finished with 19 aces and 15 assists. Lindsey Obright had three aces, 25 digs and one kill.
With the win, St. Paul moves to 3-4 on the season.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Housatonic 20, Terryville 35; Terryville 15, Litchfield 50: For Terryville, Bella Christiana (11th, 30:48) and Devin Girch (14th, 32:55) both had strong performances in the meet.
The Kangaroos are now 1-3 with the win over Litchfield.
