BRISTOL - Every team loves to see zeros on the scoreboard and the Bristol Eastern baseball team got to see a lot of them on Monday afternoon. Zach Marquis pitched a perfect game for the Lancers as they defeated Rocky Hill 13-0 at Muzzy Field.

Marquis threw just 70 pitches in the win, with 80 percent going for strikes. No Terriers batter ever had more than two balls and only two got even that. He had five strikeouts and no ball was hit into the outfield.

Maloney 4, Bristol Central 1: The Rams pushed across a run in the seventh inning and had the bases loaded, but a hard out ended the game in Meriden.

Alex Balfour pitched a solid game for Bristol Central (8-8), giving up two earned runs, but the Rams had just one hit in the game against Maloney (9-7).

Terryville 8, Shepaug Valley 3: After going down 2-0 in the first inning, the Kangaroos scored eight runs in the third to win and clinch a spot in the state tournament. Mike Tiscia had two RBI on two hits and John Grimes added two RBI of his own. Derek Thibodeau pitched five innings for Terryville, striking out four and giving up zero earned runs.

Oxford 3, St. Paul 0: The Wolverines scored all three of their runs in the first two innings and while Jack Bator and the Falcons shut them down over the last four innings, they could not put up any runs. Bator struck out six in the losing effort and Ryan Greene and Julian Thayer each went 2-for-3 at the plate.

SOFTBALL

St. Paul 12, Oxford 9: Brigid Johndrow hit a three-run homer during the Falcons’ seven-run second inning, after which they never relinquished the lead as they beat the Wolverines. Oxford scored five runs over the first two innings but Alessandra Milardo shut the Wolverines out for four innings from the third through the sixth. They put on a push, with four runs in the seventh, but could not come all the way back.

BOYS TENNIS

Bristol Central 4, Plainville 3: The Rams and blue Devils split singles and it was the Rams that earned the advantage in doubles to pull out the win. Colin Savino and Mark Kraziec picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 4 singles, respectively. Bristol Central’s No. 1 doubles team of Mike Kaminski and Alex Bernier and its No. 3 doubles team of David Gao and Paul Kjornrattanawanich were also victorious.

BOYS GOLF

St. Paul 192, Watertown 193: The Indians’ Zachary Coderre earned medalist honors with a 41 but the Falcons’ four golfers were only separated by four strokes and they eked out the win. Michael Dolce led the way for St. Paul with a 46, Ryne Salius shot a 47, Adam Ward had a 49 and Matt Raymond finished at 50.

Housatonic 221, Terryville 223, Northwestern 233: Mike Gudeczauskas was the medalist with a 48 but the Kangaroos fell just two strokes short, falling to the Mountaineers while defeating the Highlanders. Behind Gudeczauskas, Christian Robinson was second on Terryville with a 50.
