BRISTOL - The winless Plainville girls volleyball team was no match for one-loss Bristol Central, which cruised to its eighth win of the season 3-0.

The Rams never allowed more than 15 points in a set and held the Blue Devils to a match-low 10 points in the first set. Emily Eric finished with a game-leading 10 kills while Jadyn Bauer notched eight. Gwen Torreso led the teams passing with 18 assists.

Bristol Central is the eighth-ranked team in Class L and only trails undefeated teams. It will look to avenge it’s only loss of the season Thursday at home against Bristol Eastern while Plainville will host Southington.

Bristol Eastern 3, Southington 0: The winning streak continues for the Bristol Eastern girls volleyball team after facing Southington for the second time.

The Lancers posted their second sweep of the Blue Knights in 2020 on Monday in three tightly contested sets. The first set was the closest, which Eastern took 25-22. The Lancers won the next two 25-18 led by a game-high nine kills from Ryley Plourde.

On defense much of the time, many Southington players filled the stat sheet with digs, but none more than Adrianna Palmieri who posted 15.

The Blue Knights will look to end their two-game losing streak Thursday on the road against Plainville while the Lancers will look to keep pace with the other undefeated teams in Class L on Thursday in its second match of the season against Bristol Central.

Goodwin Tech 3, Vinal Tech 1: The Gladiators took on Vinal Tech for the second time this season and earned their second win over the Falcons, on the road this time, for their sixth consecutive victory overall. Goodwin Tech is now the sixth-ranked team in Class S.

After sweeping Vinal Tech in the first meeting, the Falcons brought their best effort in the first set, which they were able to sneak out of with a win 27-25. Goodwin Tech bounced back and won the ensuing set 25-20 before leaving Vinal Tech in the dust by winning both the third and fourth sets 25-8.

Nathalie Delarosa was the leading scorer for the Gladiators in the contest with 15 service points to go along with her 17 kills and 11 aces.

Delarosa, Tabetha Trammell, Rachael Astacio and Trinity Chambers combined for 28 aces in the match.

Goodwin Tech will return home for its next match Wednesday against the Metropolitan Learning Center, which the Gladiators swept Friday.
