Bristol, Southington to be represented at American Legion All-Star game

Bristol, Southington and Newington will all be represented Thursday at the Connecticut American Legion All-Star baseball game between players from Zone 1 and Zone 3.

First pitch between the two clubs is at 6:30 p.m. at Memorial Field in Simsbury.

Bristol will be represented by pitcher Alex Balfour, catcher Noah Plantamuro, pitcher Steve Warkoski, center fielder Cory Fradette and first baseman Ryan Greene.

Newington will be represented by pitcher/infielder/outfielder Mike Sobolewski and pitcher/third baseman/first baseman Joey Zawisza. Anthony Deblasio was also named to the team for Newington but is unable to play.

Southington will be represented by third baseman/first baseman/pitcher Jeremy Mercier, pitcher Nick Borkowski, center fielder Brandon Kohl and catcher Josh Panarella.

Southington players will not play in the game due to the team being in the state championship series Friday and Saturday.

The All-Star game is a benefit game for the Rocky Hill Veterans Hospital – Veterans Cheer Fund, and there is a $3 admission to the game.

The game was originally scheduled for last Thursday, but it was postponed due to state tournament games being pushed back.
