Area girls lacrosse teams learn paths through state tournaments

The CIAC released the brackets for the girls lacrosse state tournaments Thursday afternoon with the area schools learning their postseason paths.

Out of the five area teams, only two qualified for their respective tournaments.

In Class S, St. Paul ended its season with a record of 11-5, earning the No. 9 seed. The Falcons will be playing the eighth-seeded Lewis Mills (11-5) on Tuesday at Lewis Mills at 3:45 p.m.

If the Falcons win, they will advance to the quarterfinal where they would play top-seeded North Branford (14-2), who has received a first round bye.

In Class L, Southington has earned the 18th seed, finishing its season 7-8. The Blue Knights will travel to 15th-seeded South Windsor today for the qualifying round at 4 p.m.

If Southington were to upset the Bobcats, then it will travel to play No. 2 Cheshire (14-2) in the first round at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Berlin, Newington and the Bristol co-op were the teams that did not qualify for a tournament this season. The Redcoats and Indians each finished out their season with a 6-10 record. As for Bristol, it finished its season 5-11.
