BRISTOL - The Walter Camp Football Foundation will host its 11th High School “Breakfast of Champions” on Saturday, January 13 at The Omni Haven Hotel at Yale.
Two Bristol area players were selected and will be recognized.
Bristol Central defensive back and senior Dathan Hickey was named to the Water Camp All-Connecticut First-Team for his performance this season.
Hickey, a Yale commit, completed an outstanding career for the Rams and contributed heavily on offense too as a running quarterback in his senior season and holds the second All-Time single game rushing record in the “Battle for the Bell” Thanksgiving Day game against rival Bristol Eastern.
He played an integral role in the 7-3 season for Bristol Central this past year.
The second player selected in the local area was St. Paul center and senior Dominic Aiello.
As a standout on the line, Aiello was named to the Walter Camp All-Connecticut Second-Team.
His play on the field was outstanding and he was a mainstay on the line for the Falcons group and he helped lead St. Paul to a 7-3 record this past year, the best record the program finished with since the 2009-10 campaign.
Aiello will attend Middlebury College next fall and has been fueled by his lack of height, something that limited him from Division I offers.
Both Hickey and Aiello left a tremendous legacy at their respective programs and are well deserving of the recognition.
Southington had two players named to the Walter Camp All-Connecticut Second-Team.
Jonathan Clark was selected to the offensive line team.
A 6’4 senior offensive lineman, Clark was a force for this years Blue Knights group.
Clark’s teammate Ryan Montalvo, was selected on defense as a linebacker.
Montalvo also was the team’s primary tailback as a dynamic player for the 8-2 season that Southington fell just short of the playoffs due to tiebreakers.
