Football Roundup: Plainville plays close game against Bloomfield; Southington has no trouble beating Glastonbury

PLAINVILLE - The Plainville High football team put a scare into perennial state power Bloomfield on Friday night, scoring a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter to take a 13-12 lead before finally falling to the Warhawks, 18-13.

Bloomfield completed an 18-yard pass in the fourth quarter for the winning score.

Plainville scored on a touchdown pass and a running play to come back from a 12-0 deficit to take the brief lead.

Southington 34, Glastonbury 7: All the scoring took place in the first half as the Blue Knights got an opening night victory.

William Downes opened the scoring for Southington with a 14-yard pass reception from Will Barmore, with Evan Johanns providing the extra point.

The Blue Knight’s Ian Agnew then scored on a 1-yard run, with the kick making it 14-0.

Tim O’Shea caught a 12-yard pass from Barmore for a 21-0 advantage in the second quarter, before Tanner Larosa made it 28-0 with a 4-yard run.

Glastonbury got some points back when Ryan Molinari ran back a kickoff 90 yards for his team’s lone scoriong play of the game.

Agnew wrapped up the scoring for the Blue Knights with a 3-yard run.

Barmore was 15-for-23 passing in the game for 211 yards. He threw two TD passes with one interception.
