SOUTHINGTON – Jersey Mike’s Subs opened its doors Wednesday with a ribbon cutting ceremony and fundraiser kick off.Â
Jersey Mike’s Area Director and Operating Partner Chad Faulkner selected “Where Angels Play Foundation” as the recipient for all money raised at the fundraising event from Sept. 7-11. Â
Where Angels Play works to “pay it forward” by building playgrounds at schools in honor of notable individuals. The organization has built 58 playgrounds, including 26 which were dedicated to the victims of Sandy Hook.Â
Each contribution will be donated to Christian Community Action in New Haven to assist in the building of a “desperately needed playground for families that have experienced homelessness and are seeking a better way of life,” the restaurant’s press release said.Â
Customers will receive a coupon for a free regular sub with a minimum $3 donation.Â
According to the press release, the “Kathy Carroll Playground” will be built to honor a professor at Yale University that was “professionally devoted to substance abuse treatment – who privately supported children experiencing homelessness for over two decades while working at the university.”Â
Located at 812 Queen St., the restaurant is open every day from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and can be contacted at 860-378-8788.
