SOUTHINGTON – A Naugatuck man has been accused of exposing himself on a popular trail in Southington.

Police on Monday said they were able to link Emmanuel Martinez-Morales, 30, to a series of complaints in mid-July in which walkers on the Rails to Trails path said a man on a skateboard was exposing himself to them and “actively masturbating.”

Martinez-Morales matched the description of the suspect and was located after a collaborative effort between police and members of the community. He faces three counts each of public indecency and second-degree breach of peace.

On Monday, police said the 30-year-old turned himself in last week and was released without having to post bail. He is set to be arraigned in New Britain Superior Court this week.

The Rails to Trails path – also known as the Linear Trail – runs just over four and a half miles from the Southington-Cheshire town line to Lazy Lane. It is part of the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail – which, when completed, will stretch over 80 miles and run from New Haven to Massachusetts.

The Rails to Trails portion in Southington is a popular destination for area children and families.
