SOUTHINGTON – United Way of Southington is holding its annual campaign and kick-off dinner on Sept. 16.

Cheryl Lounsbury, the organization's president, said the dinner unites people, embraces generosity and is an enjoyable event.

“The United Way of Southington raises money to support Southington residents in need,” Lounsbury said. “This year, we are giving money to nine agencies that assist Southington citizens.”

According to Lounsbury, the organization is donating to Community Service, Bread for Life, The YMCA, Margaret Griffin Child Development Center, Senior Transportation, Prudence Crandall, Leaf, Southington Community Cultural Arts and Southington Veterans.

The dinner theme is “Hooked on Helping” and will be located at the Aqua Turf Club on 556 Mulberry Street. The event will be held from 6-10 p.m.

Lounsbury said Nick Tokman, a cast member of Discovery’s “Deadliest Catch,” is the keynote speaker for the dinner. She said past events have attracted around 200 attendees.

“It will include a cocktail hour and the New England station as well as a silent auction, a wine grab and other surprises,” she said.

Tickets are $100 and can be purchased online at unitedwayofsouthington.org/index.php/news-events/blog/2022-annual-dinner-event ?occurrenceID=72.
