SOUTHINGTON – The Southington Fire Department rescued several ducks which had fallen into a catch basin this past Sunday, prompting praise from several town residents on social media.
Photos of the rescue operation were posted in the Southington Fire Department’s Facebook page on Sunday.
“We serve to save, no matter how small,” the post read. “Squad 1’s crew reunited 8 ducklings with their very concerned mother after they fell into a catch basin on Columbus Ave.”
Since Sunday, the post has received 214 hearts and likes and 43 shares. As of 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, 21 town residents had left comments, many of them praising the local Fire Department for their efforts.
“We are very fortunate to have such a great fire department,” wrote Nathan Wilson.
Carol Ann also congratulated the Fire Department on the successful rescue.
“Great job SFD – happy ending,” she wrote, leaving an emoji of two hands applauding.
Resident Glenn Murano shared the post to Southington Talks, where it received a further 825 like, heart and care reacts. An additional 74 residents left congratulatory comments for the firefighters involved.
“Great job,” wrote resident John Leary. “Great story to share.”
Mari Lea Dziurgot wrote that she loved seeing the ducks rescued.
“Thank you so much for rescuing them,” she said. “God bless you.”
Resident Pamela Casner also showed appreciation to the Southington Fire Department.
“Aww, this is amazing,” she said. “Thank you Southington fire department. You deserve recognition.”
