SOUTHINGTON – Southington Auto Wash & Quick Lube is undergoing renovations as they near their 40th year in business, and wants to celebrate the completion of the remodel with the community.

Steve Krawczyk opened Southington Auto Wash & Quick Lube with his father in 1982 when he was 18 years old. The Car Wash has provided experienced, expedient service for three generations.

“I like to think of my business a little like the local bar in that people feel at home here,” he said. “When you come to us, you’re not just a number. I was recently talking to my son about how it was kind of funny how, when we first opened, people came to us with their kids. Now, those kids have grown up and some of them come to us with kids of their own.”

Krawczyk has been the owner and operator since 1983 and today is assisted by his own son, Rob Krawczyk, who started helping out when he was 15 and has been automotive Lube Manager since 2014. Other familiar faces around the car wash are Nick Delong, who has been manager since 1990, and Dan Tripp, who has been detail manager for 20 years.

Together, the team at Southington Auto Wash & Quick Lube offers a full range of services. People can get a 10-minute express car wash, a 30-minute full service wash with an interior vacuuming and towel dry, or a four-hour complete detailing.

Southington Auto Wash & Quick Lube has also long been a supporter of the community. Local baseball coach Charlie Lembo came to Krawczyk 15 years ago for a car wash and the two got to talking. They came to an arrangement where players would assist with car washes during fundraisers for their team. The partnership has continued to this day.

With the 40-year milestone coming up next year, Krawczyk said that Southington Auto Wash & Quick Lube is having its roof repaired, new, more efficient, electrical and plumbing systems installed and a new conveyer system installed.

“We’re adding a lot of lights onto the inside of the car wash as well,” he said. “It will make coming here into more than just coming to get a car wash but also something fun and different.”

Krawczyk said he is aiming for Nov. 20 to have all remodels completed. That day, he plans to have a ribbon cutting ceremony and will offer $5 car washes and free pizza in celebration.
