Officers were deployed to Rethal Street at 10:37 p.m. on a report of shots fired. They were met by neighbors of 134 Rethal St., who quickly identified the location where the incident took place.
Neighbors told responding officers that the victim was being transported to the hospital by family members and that the shooter had fled the area.
The male victim was located shortly thereafter at Bristol Hospital recovering from a gunshot wound to his calf.
Southington Police Department’s Detective Division has opened an investigation into the case, which they believe was an isolated incident.
The suspect has been described as a black male wearing dark clothing, about 5’7” with short hair. He fled the neighborhood in a dark blue Chevy Impala, according to video captured in the area, as approximately nine more rounds were fired.
