SOUTHINGTON - Police have charged multiple people after a melee in a local restaurant and bar over the weekend.
Hiran Sepulveda, 36, of Berlin, Raul Maldonado, 36, of Meriden, and Marcus Jones, 32, of Hartford, each face charges following a brawl on Saturday at Tavern 42, located at 42 W. Main St., according to police. One suspect involved in the fight fled before police arrived and has yet to be identified.
Police on Tuesday said officers were called to Tavern 42 Saturday on the report of a large fight. An investigation determined that a large group of people were sitting at a table when Sepulveda and the unidentified man got into an argument.
During the dispute, the man punched Sepulveda in the face, police said. This led to multiple people pushing each other, including Maldonado, according to police.
While this was happening, police said, the unidentified man fled out of a back door to the restaurant with an unidentified female, video surveillance showed.
Following the initial disturbance, police said, Maldonado allegedly grabbed a plate and swung it at the head of Jones. According to police, Jones then retaliated by striking Maldonado in the face multiple times and attempting to still go after him as they were separated by others at the restaurant.
As officers arrived, police said, Sepulveda pushed an officer who was trying to separate everyone.
No serious injuries were reported.
Sepulveda faces charges of second-degree breach of peace and interfering with an officer. He is free without having to post bond and is expected to be arraigned in New Britain Superior Court on Oct. 28.
Jones and Maldonado have each been charged with second-degree breach of peace. They are both free without having to post bond and are also scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 28.
