Southington man arrested in Bristol after allegedly assaulting woman, threatening to stab her

SOUTHINGTON -- A local man was arrested in Bristol on Wednesday after allegedly threatening to stab a woman during an incident in Southington. 

Jose Torres, 30, has been accused of punching the woman in the head and body at a Southington apartment complex, according to police. 

He faces charges of second-degree threatening, third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace and third-degree criminal mischief. 

Police said Torres also pushed the victim into a door, causing damage to the apartment, and threatened to stab her. As he was leaving, police allege, he slashed the woman’s tires.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

Torres was found by Bristol police and arrested. He was in possession of a knife at the time, according to police.

Torres is being held on $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court today.
