SOUTHINGTON - The Southington Care Center invites people to âLight the Worldâ on Dec. 3 and honor the memory of loved ones this Christmas season.
The half-hour event will be held at 6:30 p.m. at 45 Meriden Ave. Light the World will be led by Town Councilor Victoria Triano, director of pastoral care at the center. Triano is also a pastor.
Triano said that Light the World is an event that is intended to bring hope to those who participate.
âItâs a time to remember those who we have lost, but as a fun, upbeat night that celebrates their memory,â said Triano. âWe will have a choir, âVoices of Praise,â coming in from Mount Hebron Baptist Church in Meriden. We will also be lighting 400 luminaries to brighten up the night, followed by a short prayer. I hope that everyone will come; it will be an amazing, wonderful time.â
Triano said the Southington Care Center will be holding this event for the first time The nursing home and rehabilitation center has been in town for 27 years and she said it provides âwonderful care.â
âWe chose to do this event at this time of year because it is the time when the losses of loved ones experienced over the year may be felt the strongest,â said Triano, âbut there is still a way to regain peace in your heart, even though you miss them. And, that is by seeing the holidays as a time to cherish those memories and celebrate their lives.â
The event is sponsored by the Southington Care Center, The Orchards at Southington and Mulberry Gardens of Southington.
