SOUTHINGTON -The Southington-Cheshire Community YMCA will be offering free adult pickleball pickup games to full members on Tuesday and Thursdays starting on April 17.

Pickleball can be played from 9 a.m. to noon in the gymnasium of the YMCA at 29 High St.

Pickleball is played on a court with the net lowered to 34 inches at the center. It is played with a perforated plastic ball similar to a Wiffle Ball and paddles.

All levels are welcome. Instruction will be available. The YMCA will provide paddles and balls, but participants are free to bring their own pickleball equipment if they choose.

“We are very pleased to offer this popular game to our members,” said Karen DiGirolamo, the Y’s health and wellness director. “It’s a great opportunity to keep active and meet new friends. We encourage everyone to come see how much fun pickleball can be for you and your friends. Play for fun, exercise, challenge and friendship.”

Court time is subject to change.

For more information, call the YMCA at 860-628-5597.
