SOUTHINGTON - Registration for YMCA Camp Sloper began online at 8 a.m. Feb. 3.
“We had the most registrations in the first day ever,” said Camp Director Justin Hubeny. “We took in more than 1,400 registrations the first day and over 1,500 by the end of the first weekend.”
“I am pleased to announce that Eli Rosin wins the award for first camper to register for 2018,” Hubeny continued. Eli registered at 8:03 a.m.
“I like doing all the different activities, but my favorite activity is archery,” said Eli, who will be attending Sloper for his third summer.
Eli will be attending STEM Camp this summer.
When asked what he thought of his counselors last year, Eli said, “The counselors are all fun and funny. I like making nicknames for them.”
Eli is looking forward to trying out the Ninja Warrior Course to be built this spring. “Maybe I can be a tester for the Ninja Warrior Course,” Eli said.
“We send Eli to camp because we know he will be engaged in exciting activities outside, surrounded by great role models,” said his parents, Pat and Bethany.
Open registration is ongoing at the Southington or Cheshire YMCAs during normal business hours or online at www.ymcacampsloper.org .
