SOUTHINGTON - Since opening in April, Witch Doctor Brewing Company has added several new brews and become a hub for local musicians and artists.

The brewery at 168 Center St., one of two in town, opened April 27 and has added three new beers, including a seasonal, Oktoberfest brew. It has also been hosting regular musical performances and features a new artist every month.

“Our new brews include our Butcher’s Broom Oktoberfest brew; Dimwit, our grapefruit witbier; and Haze-A-Faire, our New England-style IPA (India Pale Ale),” said owner Josh Norris. “We have music every night and open mic night every other Wednesday. About a dozen local bands play here; a mix of rock, jazz, country, folk and blues.”

Norris said the brewery sometimes brings in local food trucks. It also has an arrangement with Nonna’s Pizzeria to deliver orders for customers 10 percent off.

Witch Doctor also serves hard cider, wine and Avery’s soda from New Britain.

Customers can enjoy board games, darts, pool and cornhole.

“Our customers really love the space,” said Norris. “We have been hosting birthday parties regularly, corporate parties and bachelor and bachelorette parties.”

Norris added that local restaurants and bars, such as Zen Bar in Plainville and Elmers in New Britain, have also begun to carry Witch Doctor’s brews.

Norris said that Witch Doctor Brewing Company’s goals are to make more folks aware that it’s in town and to partner with local charities for events, allowing those organizations to keep a portion of proceeds from sales during those nights.

Witch Doctor Brewing Company is open Wednesday and Thursday from 4 to 10 p.m., Friday from 4 to 11 p.m., Saturday from noon to 11 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
