Southington Democrats pull upset, take control of Town Council

SOUTHINGTON -- The Democrats Tuesday night pulled off an upset, taking control of the Town Council, according to unofficial results.

The Democratic winners included Chris Palmieri, Dawn Miceli, Chris Poulos, John Barry and Kelly Morrissey. The Republican winners on the Town Council included Victoria Triano, Tom Lombardi, Mike Riccio and William Dziedzic.

These unofficial results were released before press time and did not include absentee ballots.

Ed Pocock III and Cheryl Lounsbury, two Republican incumbents, did not seek re-election.

According to the unofficial results, the Republicans maintained a 5-4 advantage over the Board of Education, a 4-2 advantage of the Board of Finance and a 5-2 advantage over the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Republican winners on the Board of Education included Terri Carmody, Brian Goralski, Colleen Clark, Patricia Queen and Joseph Baczewski. The Board of Education Democratic winners included Zaya Oshana, David Derynoski, Bob Brown and Lisa Cammuso.
