SOUTHINGTON - The Crazy Brew Bash returns for its third year on Saturday, Oct. 14, featuring beers from 95 breweries and giving guests an opportunity to help make a needy family’s holiday wishes come true.
The event, sponsored by Crazy Bruce’s Discount Liquors of Bristol and The Reach Foundation, will be held at Mount Southington Ski Area, at 396 Mt. Vernon Road, Plantsville, from noon to 4 p.m., with holders of VIP tickets getting in an hour early.
Area breweries involved include the Alvarium Beer Company of New Britain, Witch Doctor and Kinsmen of Southington and Firefly Hollow of Bristol.
Proceeds will support The Reach Foundation’s annual “Shop with a Cop,” to be held in early December at Target stores in Southington, Milford, Manchester and Enfield.
“We work with local police officers and schools to select kids whose families might not have otherwise been able to afford holiday gifts and we give them that experience,” said Matt Mazzochi, the event’s organizer.
Mazzochi said that this year’s Crazy Brew Bash will boast many more vendors than last year’s.
Also offered will be a cornhole tournament, live music, food trucks and a photo booth.
There will also be chances to win ski passes and winter gear. Everyone who comes will be given a map showing the locations of attractions.
Musical acts booked for the Bash include Otan Vargas, Ian Bigg, Chapter 8 and Retrofit. Big Bad Wolf, Chompers, Munchies and Captain Scott’s Lobster Dock food trucks will be on hand, as well as others offering pizza and pierogi.
“Our Crazy Bashes are some of the best events in the state, with the most variety,” said Mazzochi. “This year, we have expanded our footprint, limited attendance and added a lot more breweries - probably 25 more than last year.”
Mazzochi encouraged people to buy their tickets now, as space is limited to 2,000 people and tickets are selling fast.
