Meriden man charged in Southington sexual assault

SOUTHINGTON - A Meriden man has been charged in connection with a Southington sexual assault.

Julio Bonilla, 18, has been charged with first-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a minor, first-degree unlawful restraint and second-degree false statement.

According to police, Bonilla has been accused of having sex with a minor in July. Police said he turned himself in last week after learning there was a warrant out for his arrest. He was released from custody after posting $350,000 bond and will be arraigned next Monday in Bristol Superior Court.

Police did not release any further details about the case, given the nature of the allegations.
